Hello all-
Yesterday and Today (and tomorrow) are all devoted to Orientation. In fact we aren't leaving the center until Sabbath (Saturday--we are going to the Garden Tomb after church!!!) and then on Sunday we are going to take a walking tour of the Old City (Jerusalem) for the first time.
Anyway, so our first three days at the center are devoted to Orientation (and our first homework assignments).
Basically, we have been inundated with policies, rules, opportunities to get involved, and figuring out where everything is in the center. (I will say this many times, but the JC is an incredible building). Tomorrow we are going over security information and a few final orientation necessities. We also have our first Old Testament and Ancient Near Eastern History classes tomorrow. :-)
I wanted to post some more pictures of the SNOW!!! We got several centimeters of snow (on my last post I showed some pictures from Wednesday night). This morning (Thursday) when we woke up, there was snow outside and it was pretty foggy. By the time we were eating breakfast, the fog had cleared and we had some beautiful sights of the city covered in snow :-)
side note: it is so fun to see the kids (there are about 10-15 small children that live in the JC with there parents who are Professors and Staff) play in the snow--they get so excited for so little snow. I watched them making snowmen earlier today on the terrace. It's funny because they are all so bundled up, and it still feels fairly mild to me (it's cold, but much warmer than Provo was!!!)
So here are some favorite pictures snapped today:
Me with the snow-covered Dome of the Rock in the background
The Outside of the JC (this is by the Cafeteria on the terrace there)
Me and Jenessa (such a small world that we are both on the trip!)
Snowy City!
Through a window on the staircase
The city dusted in snow
love this one of the Dome of the Rock
Me :-)
This is a side view from our balcony so you can see how much snow there was
This still feels SO surreal
The sun started coming out and melting the snow by the middle of the day
Love you all!!!

ReplyDeleteSO JEALOUS of all the snow! We had some, but not that much! Isn't the JC the coolest building of all time? It's like Hogwarts. I'm obsessed. That's really the thing I miss the most.
